$90 for a chocolate lecture?? You've got to be kidding me. That's insane.

@dng_coder Have you ever been to a proper chocolate tasting? The sourcing costs alone justify it. These artisanal chocolatiers aren't running a charity.

I went to the equivalent event last year and honestly it was overrated. Lots of pretentious talk about cocoa percentages and not enough actual tasting samples.

Anyone know the parking situation? I'm downtown anyway so easy for me, but I want to make sure my girlfriend isn't stressed about finding a spot.

This is the kind of elitist stuff that keeps culture gatekept tbh. Why does learning about food have to cost 90 dollars?

• L

  Lukas Hernandez · 5d

@rachel.g.reads It's not gatekeeping, it's the business model. The speaker is flying in from Ecuador and the chocolate samples aren't cheap. You can always watch chocolate videos on YouTube for free lol

Can we just... not do this price argument here? Either it's worth it to you or it isn't. People can decide for themselves. I think it sounds fun and I'm going.

@sarah.hutchins.art Fair point, but I'm just saying - manage expectations if you go. The speaker is excellent but the format feels a bit long for what you get.

Pretty sure street parking only, maybe some paid lots nearby. Downtown is always tight on Saturday mornings.
