Join us for a special Art in the Evening program featuring Justin Willson, Curator at The Icon Museum and Study Center in Clinton, Massachusetts, as he illuminates one of the most transformative periods in Russian icon painting. Drawing upon exceptional works in the Timken collection, Willson will trace developments in style and patronage across fifteenth- and sixteenth-century Muscovy, beginning with painters in the circle of Dionisiy and revealing how a sweeping religious revival reshaped the artistic and spiritual character of early Russian art. Does this require any art history knowledge or is it beginner friendly?

Justin Willson is fantastic, highly recommend if you've seen him speak before

Heard this exhibition is incredible. Has anyone been to the museum's evening events before? How's the attendance usually?

Going opening night! Early Russian art is so underrated in galleries around here 🎨

Genuinely asking - is this gonna be packed? I hate standing around for hours just to see a few paintings
Jessica Li · 2d
These evening events are always overrated imo. You end up paying extra to see the same exhibits you could visit for less during the day

@jess.travel the evening vibes are totally different though. Smaller crowds, curated playlists, wine. It's a whole experience

Also wondering about parking – anyone know if they validate? Last event I went to there was construction on the street level

@jess.travel I get what you're saying but the museum does a live presentation at these evening events that they don't do during regular hours. That's the value add.

Is anyone bringing their dog? I know the museum allows them and I'm thinking about it for my pup's first cultural experience lol
Jessica Li · 2d
@luisflores_sa $65 to see the "live presentation" that you could probably just watch on YouTube later. Hard pass for me.
